The Mission Committee is excited to announce that we are planning a presbytery-wide mission trip for 2026 in partnership with Chicago Presbytery!
This trip will support the Dakota Partnership as we serve the Sissseton-Wahpeton Oyate Native Americans on the Lake Traverse Reservation near Sisseton, South Dakota. You can learn more about the partnership here: https://chicagopresbytery.org/2025/03/31/dakota-partnership/
We are pleased to share the details below:
When: June 13-19, 2026
Transportation: We will travel together in 15-passenger vans
Accommodations: We stay in a hotel in Sisseton. There are a couple of options:
- Sharing a hotel room with someone
- Staying individually in a hotel room
- A family stays together in one hotel room
- There are also options for staying in your RV in a RV park, putting up a tent at the church, or sleeping in the church
What do we do there? Our primary ministry is leading Vacation Bible School for approximately 100 children and youth, divided into three age groups: K–4th grade, middle school, and high school. We will also need volunteers to help with meal planning and preparation. If there is sufficient interest, we may also offer a building or repair project.
Who can go? Adults, families (with appropriate supervision for younger children), and junior or senior high youth accompanied by adult supervision are welcome.
Cost (includes transportation, lodging, and meals):
Single occupancy room – $500
Double occupancy room – $300
Family room – $550
RV park – $150
Church – donation
The presbytery will cover 50% of the cost for all participants.
Please share this with your congregation. Reach out to Jeannette (jeannette@blackhawkpresbytgery.org) or Thea (pastor@fpce.org) if you have any questions.
